Hearing loss represents one of the largest disability sectors in the US and is growing. It affects 12,000 children a year making it the most common birth defect and according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) that means an estimated 28 million people have some degree of hearing loss. It is truly uncommon today to find someone who does not have a family member or close acquaintance with hearing loss. Although most hard of hearing individuals use a hearing aid; we should understand that additional solutions are available to improve their listening experience. Hearing Aids are not all that can be done for individuals with hearing loss that visit your facility and take part in your organization. Assistive listening systems and devices are a beneficial supplement to aids.
